Paris – A Masterpiece of a City
As one of the world’s great capital cities, Paris has so much to offer school and college groups and, unsurprisingly, school trips to Paris are very popular. There is so much to see and do in Paris that you don’t really need a particular excuse to bring a group here but for students of French language, history, culture, fashion or art, you really need an excuse not to!
Take a look at our 3-day Highlights of Paris Tour which as you will see covers all the famous Parisian sights.
There are numerous places to visit with a trip to the iconic Eiffel Tower and the Musée du Louvre often being at the top of a school’s to do list. For students of art, though, the Louvre is just one of many luxuries available in Paris. Notably, the Musée D’Orsay on the banks of the Seine represents mainly French artists with Monet, Renoir, Cezanne and Degas on the menu.
For younger groups, The Orangery, nestled in the Tuileries Gardens, perhaps provides a more accessible door into the world of art, whilst the visually striking Pompidou Centre is home to the capital’s collection of Modern Art and also features a special Children’s Gallery.
City of Light
As one of the most famous landmarks on earth, a journey to the upper levels of the Eiffel Tower is an obvious draw for school groups of all ages. This is often complimented from a rather different angle viewing city from the River Seine on a trip one of the city’s famous sightseeing bateaux complete with commentary and music.
Equally, the famous city-scape can be enjoyed from the steps running up to the Basilique de Sacré-Cœur in the north or from the Montparnasse Tower to the south – once Europe’s tallest building. Closer in, many school groups will happily bound up the stairs leading to the panoramic roof of the Arc de Triomphe to look down the Champs Elysees, or follow in Disney’s Hunchback’s footsteps to climb the towers of the imposing Notre Dame Cathedral.
Walking the city’s streets is an experience in itself. Whether strolling the Tuileries Gardens and the Champs Élysées, window-shopping in the fashion houses of the Rue du Rivoli and Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré, soaking up the atmosphere of the bustling Les Halles and Montmartre or just absorbing the bohemian atmosphere of the Left Bank and Boulevard St-Germain – every corner turned presents something different.
