Euroculture is pleased to offer an excellent new centre in the rural surroundings of the Orne department of Normandy, close to the border with Brittany. Located in the countryside south of the coastal Normandy centres, this location offers a different experience to schools visiting the north-west of France. The residence, or gite, is a cosily refurbished school-house in extensive grounds overlooking the village of St Fraimbault, just a five minute walk to the foot of the hill. Although the village of St Fraimbault has a population of only 700, it has achieved fame well beyond its size as an outstanding village fleurie, winning many national floral competitions in recent years. The village is understandably picturesque with a delightful village square and a number of small shops. There is a boating lake with a children's playground, mini-golf and a picnic area all within a short walking distance of the gite. We particularly recommend this centre to younger school groups, offering an especially secure and peaceful base from which to tour the best Normandy has to offer. The world heritage site at Le Mont St Michel is just an hour away by coach, the medieval town of Bayeux around an hour and a half, with the Normandy D-Day Beaches a little further afield. The immediate surroundings also offer plenty for eager schoolchildren without the need for long journeys. There are local opportunities to try French out on market days, to visit local producers to see how cheese is made, see apple presses at work, or even to spend an afternoon at a goat farm.
