Arc de Triomphe Standing fifty metres tall at the end of the Champs-Elysees, the Arc de Triomphe is another of Paris's finest landmarks. Built as a monument to the French Army, the Arch is also home to the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, a victim of the Great War. |

The Conciergerie and
Sainte-Chappelle Marie Antoinette was famously incarcerated in The Conciergerie, one of Paris's most foreboding buildings which played a major role in the Reign of Terror during the French Revolution. Adjacent is Sainte-Chappelle, a fine example of Gothic architecture containing particularly fine examples of stained glass. |

Hotel Des Invalides It's name derived from it's original inception as a military hospital, the Invalides is now home to the Army Museum and the tombs of famous French military figures, most notably Napoleon Bonaparte. |

Montmartre and The Sacré-Cœur
Basilica Standing on the only hill overlooking Paris from the north of the city, the Sacré-Cœur is another of Paris's most significant sights. The Basilica was built as a monument to the France-Prussian War, whilst the surrounding district of Montmartre forged a reputation as a haven for bohemians and artists. Today crowds flock to soak up the atmosphere of the Place du Tertre with its many cafes and busy street artists. |

Musée
d'Orsay Housing mainly French art dated 1848-1915 (post-Louvre), this former railway station contains a major collection of works by the Impressionists. |

Notre-Dame Cathedral This imposing gothic cathedral started in the 1160s has featured in many important events in French history, and has been immortalised by Victor Hugo and Disney in The Hunchback of Notre Dame. It is situated on the Île de la Cité, the earliest inhabited part of the city, considered to be the Heart of Paris. |

Père-Lachaise
Cemetery A strangely popular location, this cemetery in eastern Paris attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors each year to see the tombs of such famous names as Oscar Wilde, Jim Morrisson, Frederick Chopin and Edith Piaf amongst many others. |

Pompidou Centre An amazing sight from the outside, the Pompidou Centre is home to the national collection of modern art. |
