Perfectly placed for the Channel Tunnel and Ports, Boulogne-sur-Mer offers schools an ideal destination for a short trip to France. The presence of the A16 motorway provides ample opportunities for touring the 'Côte d'Opale' with its rolling hills and fishing villages, and Paris just over three hours away. In Boulogne itself, the modern lower town - the largest fishing port in France - bustles under the shadow of the picturesque walled citadel on the hill above. The medieval ramparts offer the chance for young explorers to connect with the history of a town once-besieged by Henry VIII and later used by Napoleon as a base for his planned invasion of England. Boulogne has become synonymous with school trips from England. It's Old Town hosts a regular market where pupils are quick to try their French language skills when buying their berets from the local stalls! School groups can also enjoy the town's splendid and expansive beach before checking out the impressive marine attraction Nausicäa. Our centre in Boulogne is a high quality Youth Hostel and still has the feel of a well-appointed modern hotel which it had been until its recent refurbishment. As this centre comes highly recommended, we advise early booking. Click here to see details of our other centre in nearby Hardelot-Plage. |
